Avaliação do Uso de Circuitos Equivalentes na Análise por Impedância Eletroquímica de Revestimentos Anticorrosivos

Abstract: The use of different metallic materials in the industry is increasing every day. The metals are likely to attack for aggressive species such as water, oxygen and ions. To the control the effects of the corrosion phenomenon and prevent the loss of material, the need exists for more knowledge of this matter. This regard the anticorrosive coatings with greater durability exhibit great importance for the industry. The coating it is intended to provide the increased lifetime of the metal coated. However is important to study the techniques to analyze, effectively, the quality and performance of various types of commercially available coatings. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a widely used technique, considered one of the most effective tools for investigating the behavior of electrochemical interfaces, including the corrosion processes and evaluation of behavior the coatings. The two main methods of graphical representation of this technique - Nyquist and Bode diagrams - are described in greater detail, as well the mathematical methods proposed in the literature for treatment of experimental data obtained by EIS. In this work we evaluated the use of equivalent circuits in the interpretation of the behavior of coatings to according the elements proposed . The interpretation of the elements and the use of equivalent circuits in mechanistic deduce information are controversial. This paper shows that the choice of the circuit depends on the purpose for which the data and tools available are collected.
